In 2016, through the generosity of The Nicholson Foundation, a grant award was given to a coalition of Passaic County community organizations. This community coalition, now known at the HCPC, is focused on improving the health of the underserved in the City of Paterson and the greater Passaic County area with special focus on the Medicaid community.
The Health Coalition of Passaic County (HCPC) is a collaborative community effort led by 17 Board members and 27 Community Advisory Board (CAB) members from a wide range of community organizations. The Mission of HCPC is to create a thriving and sustainable community coalition dedicated to significantly improving the health and overall quality of life for residents of the Greater Passaic County area by specifically addressing social determinants of health. The HCPC includes not only St. Joseph’s (the only hospital in Paterson and largest provider of charity care in New Jersey), but also Eva’s Village and Straight and Narrow (two human services organizations), the City of Paterson Department of Health, Harbor House (a behavioral health service provider), and Paterson Public Schools. Additional Board Member organizations are the New Jersey Department of Health, New Jersey Community Development Corporation, Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern NJ, Passaic County Board of Social Services, Passaic County Dept. of Health, Paterson Housing Authority, St. Mary's General Hospital, Passaic County Sheriff’s Department, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, the Tri-County Chamber of Commerce and the Paterson Community Health Center.
Support for this program is provided by a grant from The Nicholson Foundation.
